Some Unnoticed and Under Appreciated Fabrics

It is hard to believe that we are into the second month of 2024… but, so it is. And, after a hectic month, I have had a bit of time to peruse what we have in stock. And, one of the things I want to do is highlight some fabrics that don’t get much attention.

Here are some that I think are good patterns, that would work in several different decorating scenarios.

BLUE PAISLEY FABRIC

One fabric I think is really pretty for those that like blue, is the Delft blue paisley fabric. This has large paisley botehs nestled amongst a small floral background. The blues range from pastel blue to deep tones, with touches of aqua. The wide range of blue makes this easy to fit into decorating schemes with nearly any blue. This pattern and coloring has potential for a lot of different applications- pillows, curtains, etc.

Another underappreciated fabric is the blue chevron stripe.  Done with a water color technique, it also has a wide range of blue tones that can easily  blend with other colors. It has a cheerful, not too serious feel to it. It would work well in kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms, as well as cabanas!

The  purple petal fabric has a small pattern that can be used for many things- we have seen it used for curtains, placemats, and pillows. The ground cloth has a corded weave, and it has a nice weight. The purple petals float over a vanilla cream background, and are visited by small bees, ladybugs, and butterflies.

The Aqua Bird Garden fabric has a whimsical pattern. While I love the bird, I also love the addition of the strawberries! The ground cloth has a lot of drape. It would work well for curtains or a duvet, for those that want a room with a touch of fantasy.

We have another bird garden fabric. The pattern is classic, and we have it in pink and in blue. It would make lovely drapes for almost any room in a house. The tonal sponged background gives depth to the pattern.

Dragonflies fly over a pond filled with water lilies on the Pond Waterlily Fabric. The ground cloth is heavy enough for upholstery, but does have enough drape for curtains. It is a wonderful design with lovely coloring.

The trompe l’oei library fabric is one of the most unique fabrics we have had. It is full of interest, and perfect for cushions or probably the most interesting curtains one could have. This would make great panel curtains, as well as an interesting shower curtain.

The dark blue tropical jungle leaf fabric is an interesting fabric. It is a woven, and it is reversible. It is done in a dark blue and white. The blue is so deep it appears black. It has a soft hand, and does have drape. It is for someone who wants an understated tropical fabric. I see it on chair or a couch, though it could be used for curtains or bedspreads as well.

While using the search bar to type in a specific keyword is a great way to narrow down one’s search, it is often fun to get a cup of coffee or tea, and really go through a genre. It can be a real surprise to see what is listed, and who knows, you might find something that might be a good addition to one’s decorating scheme!
