One can not deny,
when we get to the 4th of July,
it is summer.
But, our weather does not reflect this!
Okay, weather this spring- awful!
Rain, cold, rain, cold.
Weather in June?
A repeat of the above- with fog!
Last Sunday started rainy.
It was supposed to get to a warm 67 degrees F.
But, in the middle of the morning-
SURPRISE!
The sun came out, the temperature rose,
and suddenly it was like a sauna!
While no one likes high humidity,
it felt like a summer day.
Finally!
Forget that the weather has reverted to the rain/cold scenario,
Sunday gave people hope for some pleasant weather.
So, as the 4th approaches,
even though the approaching ten days looks unpleasant and cold,
we are ready to enjoy summer!
Fabrics for summer?
Well, of course, the first thing that comes to mind is seersucker.
Seersucker just says “summer” to me.
The seersucker we have is perfect for duvets and bedskirts,
as well as bathrobes.
The aqua is pretty!
We have some left in
blue, red, and pink as well.
Some of the windowpane plaids are reminiscent of
summer tablecloths from the ’50’s and ’60’s,
when Madras plaid was popular.
One of my favorite summery fabrics is the
Summer Meadow Fabric
with its birds, grasses, asters, sweet pea flowers, and blackberries!
And what would summer be without sunflowers?
This colorful Indienne is not a summery fabric per se.
Bright and bold,
we call it the Fiesta Indienne!
It would make wonderful cushions and curtains
where one needs a shot of color for summer decorating.
And, of course,
what could be more summery than our
mid-century girly pool fabric?
For gardeners the Snapdragon Fabric
might be something one would want.
One ocean fabric that is perfect for the 4th,
and says “summer”
is the
Beach fabric sea shore fabric.
It is also available in an all blue colorway.
There are other fabrics that work well for summer.
If there is a specific color you want,
see the
Shop by Color category.
If you are looking for a specific style,
use the
Shop by Style category.
Or browse all the different categories,
with an ice tea or lemonaide!
HAPPY SUMMER!
