Okay, it is HOT
And we work in the second story of the church-
and it is roasting!
I know other parts of the country are used to heat and humidity-
but, we are without air conditioning…
Did I say it was hot?
So, I decided to put together a group of cool, refreshing fabrics!
The first that springs to mind is the Retro Girly Pool fabric.
This shows girls on floating mattresses,
enjoying a lazy day at the pool
This is sheeting weight,
and suitable for all kinds of projects.
The blue Craftsman rug fabric has a soft sky blue background
punctuated with soft orange-
very cooling.
Seersucker and summer are linked in my mind.
And, afterall, seersucker was developed in India and
the weave was developed for breathability.
We have three colors of it right now-
red, pink, and aqua.
It is suitable for clothing or for home dec applications.
The burlap leaf fabric has embroidered leaf outlines,
done in a burlap tone, on a light weight fabric.
It is also a good choice for clothing and curtains.
The neutral tones give a respite from the heat.
This has a slightly open weave,
and is quite drapey-
I picture it as a curtain panel,
wafting in a breeze from an open window.
The large palm tree fabric
has colorful trees on white.
This has a very large simplistic design,
on a plain background.
The amount of space around the trees
gives a sense of space,
which in person translates to coolness.
In the Ocean Fabrics there are two that seem to be cool
The first is the aqua blue seashell seahorse fabric.
It is done in tans and white on muted dusty blues.
The other is the dolphin fabric.
This has dolphins in shades of clear blue,
with turtles and fish with reef grasses and coral
done in soft sea greens, on beige.
As summer continues,
I hope people are finding ways to enjoy the summer,
while staying safe and cool!
