MONDAY in mid-coast Maine 6/6/11

A beautiful day in mid-coast Maine… a nice way to start the week! We decided to change the format of the blog for a bit..

The blog will be more of a random thing.. bits and pieces of what is going on in Maine, and in the fabric world.
Life in Maine in the summer is very different than in the winter.
Being a state that is tourist oriented, the whole feel of life changes.
The weather continues to warm,
the landscapes soften with greenery,
Stores that have been closed for nine months unboard.
And one sees the scraping of houses, as people get ready to paint
Gardens are bloooming with flowers…
Life feels good.

This year, because of the amount of rain we have had, the leaves are fully leafed out, and it is green, green, green!
Looking down the hill through the sunlight that is slanting in one sees the brown trunks of trees, and the sunlit leaves of maples and oaks.

Early June in Maine

This morning, upon getting up and looking out the window,
the first thing seen,
was the lone female turkey walking slowly across the field.
She pecked her way up to the blue spruce, where food had been left out for her..
She ate for about three minutes, and then continued up the hill.
She has been seen resting in the lower field,
and across from the house,
in the middle of the blue bells, ferns, white bleeding hearts, and pulmonaria.
It is always a surprise,
when one is gardening, to see her head and neck suddenly appear-
she startles one as much as one is startled by her!

COFFEE BREAK!
Every Monday a large pitcher of ice coffee is made.
Not liking deep roasted coffee, Taster’s Choice does the trick.
(the groans of horror can be heard!)
5 rounded spoonfuls of the crystals to 2 cups of hot water,
add ice cubes to bring it to 4 cups,
and there you go!
Serve on ice, will last as long as you need!
Fast, easy, and tastes just fine!

We are working to get all of the Schumacher Fabrics listed.
We found the last three pieces of the ever popular Schumacher Greeff quail fabric.
This is available with a tan background, a golden background, and a pale beige background.

SCHUMACHER GREEFF QUAIL FABRIC
The Schumacher Greeff quail fabric with the tan background has the most fall look to it.

The gold background has the richest coloring.

The pale quail fabric has the most unique look of all of the
Schumacher Greeff quail family fabrics.
The neutral tones with the lime green sets it apart.

These  can be found in both the
Schumacher Fabric category.

and the
Bird Fabric Category.
