Pemaquid Beach- December 20, 2013

The first beach walk of the year did not happen until nearly the end of December. Whenever there had been time to go down to Pemaquid Beach the weather had been cold and stormy.

The weather during the early winter was cold, and windy, with snow and ice. My criteria for a beach walk are simple- it has to be above 20 degrees F., and not too windy. If it is even slightly windy at the house, there will be a howling wind on the beach.

So, it was not until right before Christmas that Spot and I were able to make our way down to the beach.

It was a cold day, but the wind was not too bad as we headed down the point. Spot was excited to be going for a walk, but did not know where we were until we turned in to park. We got out of the car, one could hear the ocean. We carefully crossed the parking lot, heading for the short trail across the dunes. What would we find? What would the tide be doing? It was exciting to finally be back!

The light was quite flat.

The tide was quire far out,
but coming.
Seaweed had been thrown up on the beach from a storm, and ice and snow the beach.
