As the 4th of July gets closer houses, and other things, in Maine get trimmed out with red, white, and blue!
HAPPY FOURTH of JULY!
From the top of the state to the bottom Mainers celebrate the 4th of July by decorating. Below are some images from around the state.
Sometimes the houses are over the top!
And sometimes the trimming is subtle.
We will be heading out on a small road trip tomorrow and will post more images. Please have a happy and safe holiday!
WEDNESDAY- July 4th!
In Maine every small town has a 4th of July parade. This includes everything from the boy scouts to all the town fire engines at the end! Kids run along the side of the parade, hoping someone will throw candy. They usually end at a town square or on the dock over-looking water, where guns sound a 21 gun salute. Depending on the town a local fair might be set up with strawberry shortcake available. Larger towns might have a small midway with rides. And, then, there are of course, the fireworks. Altogether, a family day, with a lobster bake or barbeque in the works for many.
THURSDAY- July 5, 2012
