Oriental toile fabric charcoal ink wash painting literati pagoda
An Oriental toile fabric featuring a pagoda. An Asian toile fabric, done as a charcoal ink wash painting by one of the literati.
A pagoda is the main feature of this painting. Alone on a hill, trees seem to be acknowledging its presence, enclosing it protectively.
Many blacks and greys, with soft blues, are used on this fabric. They have been blended and layered. The impression is of an ink wash painting. From a distance one sees charcoal, grey, and black, with a deep greyed green on beige. The effect is vintage.
This fabric is 56 3/4" wide. The pagoda is about 8 1/2" ( 21.59 cm. ); the scene, from the bottom of the purple below the bush below the tree on the left of the pagoda, to its top branches is about 24 1/2" ( 62.23 cm. ) tall. This is a mid weight home decorating fabric. It has been woven with a heavy basket weave, that has a slightly flattened thread. It has drape, and a nice hand. It feels soft. It is perfect for curtains, upholstery, cushions, bedspreads, clothing, etc.
This is for a 22" cut, which will give two of the pagodas on the fabric, but not the full scene.
